What's Keeping You Down? The #1 Reason is this....

Early in my training, I was at an event listening to a speaker talk about why our industry was stuck and what we needed to do to break out of the norm. The talk had the idea of how the people around you will affect you.

It reminded me of the story  of the crabs.

You see, crabs in an open bucket will stay in their bucket. If one crab tries to climb out, the other crabs pull him back down. If he continues to try to climb out, the other crabs may pull off one of his legs to keep him in the bucket.

Why wouldn’t the other crabs watch how the crab gets out, so they know it can be done and so they know how to get out, too?

Instead the crabs in the bucket are more interested in keeping everyone else in the bucket.

The crab story reflects human nature. Other people  – family, friends, co-workers – industry "experts" will try to drag someone that’s succeeding down to their level.

When one tries to do something different, get better skills, improve broken business models, based on old outdated "systems," or help school owners escape their toxic (ego driven) environments, there are always other people (crabs) that will try to drag you back down to share their fate.

This keeps THEM comfortable with where THEY are at and makes it acceptable.

In my opinion, if someone is not actively supporting you, encouraging you or inspiring you then they are sabotaging you. They are trying to keep YOU in the bucket. Those are NOT your people. You are better than that. You can do more!

Ignore the crabs. Charge ahead and do what is right for you. It may not be easy and you may not succeed as much as you like, but you will NEVER share the same fate as those who never try.

Surround yourself with people that are where you want to be. More successful, smarter, and physically fit. They will drive you to do and be better.

Be comfortable with being the "dumbest" person in the room. Both online and in life!

Why? Because that is where you'll find the best "YOU" -you can be!

To your success.
